MOLD, a homeowner’s worst nightmare! Mold thrives in damp, humid, dark areas and unfortunately, a crawl space is its favorite spot. Tri-State Waterproofing has seen, treated, and prevented thousands of moldy crawl spaces for over 25 years. Mold is very dangerous to the health of your family and your home.
Treating mold and preventing mold is not a small task and should be handled with the uttermost caution. Homeowners should NOT take matters into their own hands and treat mold. Even the smallest amount of mold should be properly handled by professionals to ensure everyone’s safety.
Mold starts anywhere that moisture is present and untreated. So an unprotected crawl space is a perfect environment. Mold needs at least 55% humidity to grow, which in most cases a leaking crawl space will range between 65-90%. Depending on the level of water intrusion, the humidity will be more severe or less severe.
We offer a commercial-grade dehumidifier to all of our customers with humidity issues, but no water intrusion. Depending of the level of humidity detected upon inspection, we will recommend the need for our commercial -grade FRAL Dehumidifier, or a residential dehumidifier that can be bought in any home repair department store.
Typically, when a crawl space is experiencing relatively high humidity with little water intrusion, an encapsulation is recommended. The encapsulation ensures that no moisture is reaching your wooden floor joists and rotting them.

This system is placed around the perimeter of the crawl space walls on the inside. It catches any water seeping into the crawl space, sends it to a basin, and it discharged from the foundation by a sump pump. This repair comes with a transferable lifetime warranty. An encapsulation and dehumidifier is optional, or more than likely suggested.
